1/2 Pint bottle from the mid Fifties-
Union Label
This bottle  has  "HALF PINT", "FEDERAL LAW FORBIDS SALE OR REUSE OF THIS BOTTLE",  MADE IN USA, ????(Distiller's permit number),  "56" and "58", and glass manufacturer's logo  embossed on  it, as well as pristine original labels.
The bottle itself is what was called a "New York Sample"; which was basically a "perfect" bottle sent from the producing plant to Hunter/ Wilson (actually Seagram)  headquarters in NYC.
We believe this bottle was produced in Baltimore, MD
As  a sample, it sports a perfect label set (Front and Back), dummy revenue stamp and a place where there SHOULD have been a nice little hole drilled into in the bottom- to make SURE nobody tries to do something "FORBIDDEN" (a hold over from prohibition days).
By the mid fifties (20+ years since the repeal of prohibition)  things were loosening up, but "sample" bottles still usually required that tiny hole in the bottom: to prevent Uncle Sugar from losing Tax revenue.

sample bottle has a glass defect- called a Thick Bottom, so it looks like the plant faked drilling the obligatory hole and just covered the DSP with some epoxy.
And yes, we've marked the listing "New".  Certainly, this
one of a kind
sample was never "Used" as a liquor bottle!
