    Auctions is pleased to offer for sale a Chinese Recessed-Leg Altar Table.
    The table is the type of piece that would've been used in 18th century as an altar or for displaying objects in the home. It is a masterfully carved piece, with a top made from one solid piece of elm, and the apron carved in the form of a lingzhi head. The table has a beautiful patina that has developed over many decades of use, and the worn texture of the lacquer and elm grain is very appealing.  It is also very rare to see Chinese tables with a single piece top - a manufacturing technique that almost totally died out during the 19th century. The table measures a large 81 inches long by 33.5 inches tall by 13.5 inches deep (205.7 cm by 85.1 cm by 34.3 cm).
