Antique Chinese 52" Wide Altar Hall Sofa Table brown lacquer, 15" deep 36" Tall.
This small antique Chinese Altar table has a 4 board top with raised flanges on each end. When viewed from the end, there is a trim piece that covers the end of the planks. The front and back edges of the top have multiple carved details.
A  straight apron with a beaded bottom edge runs under the top with beautiful pierced carved spandrels at each end and also mirrored on the outside of the legs. The style of the the spandrels is commonly referred to as a cloud pattern.
The front edge of the legs has multiple carved details. Between the end legs are 3 pierced carved panels between horizontal stretchers. The largest middle panel is carved in a Ruyi pattern, which symbolizes power and good fortune. The top panel is a Wan symbol, which can represent good luck. The bottom section is a simple design. The end panels sit on solid foot rests, which show considerable wear, most likely from sitting on dirt floors.
You can also see in the photos that one of the spandrels has had some repairs, and their is some shrinkage between the planks on the top.
This Antique Chinese Altar table has some of it’s original brown lacquer finish, although many areas have worn off. This table has a lot of character, but it is also a good candidate to be refinished to you specifications. Please contact us to discuss custom finishing. There are a lot small reproduction tables available, but finding an old one this compact is very unusual.
